Johnny Cowboy and Fred Hamilton 2019 Match Report

Yesterday we held our annual football match in the memory of Johnny Cowboy and Fred Hamilton. This saw the U25's of Lochbroom Football Club go up against the veterans in the Over 25's for the Johnny Cowboy Cup. The game last year left us with high expectations and it didn't dissapoint. It turned out to be a goals galore which kept the crowd entertained. Although the U25's started off the game strong by taking a 2 goal lead, the experience of the Over 25's came through in the end as they managed to pull the game back and push on to win the game. Some excellent football was on show from both sides which was a pleasure to watch.

While the game is to remember two great people, we also take the chance to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Through donations at the game from both the players and the crowd we raised £470. We also had bucket down at The Arch Inn in the evening whilst one of our own, Ruairidh Maclean was performing. We raised an additional £300 that evening alongside other various donations which brings out total to around £800 now!! We definitely felt the support and love from the community! A few thank you's are needed:

Referee - Russell Weir - thanks go to Russell for coming in and helping us by refereeing the match. This is his second year doing it and has always been keen to be involved with the match,

Jill Bruce, Christine Crook, and Christine Hamilton for running the refreshments table,

To The Arch Inn for supplying food after the game,

The Macphail Centre and Ian Macgregor for letting us use the facilities for the game,

To everyone that was involved with helping organise the game and set everything up on the day

and finally to everyone that came along to watch! This event is always special especially when it is so greatly supported by the community!
